Vice President, ESPN Events

Clint Overby is vice president of ESPN Events, a division of ESPN that owns and operates 35 annual college sports events. Overby oversees the day-to-day management and strategy of these events, which account for approximately 400 hours of live programming each year while attracting a combined attendance of more than 800,000 fans.

Overby is responsible for setting the budgetary and sales priorities for ESPN Events, while working to create new opportunities and ensure that current events support ESPN college sports programming initiatives. The list of events includes five early-season college football games, 17 college bowl games, 12 college basketball events, and a college softball event.

Overby has oversight of ESPN Events’ satellite offices in more than 10 markets across the country. Together, he and his team build relationships with conferences, schools, local communities and sponsors, while providing unique experiences for teams and fans.  

Overby was named to his current role in 2016 after previously serving as senior director of events since 2006. He was promoted to director of events in 2003 to help manage the growing events division after originally joining the company in June 2001 as manager of the Big 12 Corporate Partner Program.

Prior to ESPN, Overby was a marketing manager for Host Communications in Dallas.   

A native of Waupaca, Wisc., Overby graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1996 with a Bachelor of science degree in kinesiology and business administration. He then went on to earn a Master of science in sports administration from the University of Kentucky.

Overby is based in Charlotte, N.C. where he is a member of ESPN’s senior leadership team in that office.
