National Hockey Writer, NHL Reporter & Co-host In The Crease Podcast
Emily Kaplan serves as a reporter for The Walt Disney Company’s coverage of the National Hockey League and is a co-host of In The Crease – The ESPN NHL Podcast. Kaplan is also a national hockey writer and reporter for ESPN.com.
Together with Hall of Fame sportscaster Linda Cohn, In The Crease – The ESPN NHL Podcast brings fans insider perspectives, reporting, reactions and analysis to the latest breaking headlines and under the radar stories both on and off the ice.
Kaplan joined ESPN in 2017 and provided coverage from the Stanley Cup Final as the only in-arena reporter for ESPN due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and reported on the NHL’s struggles with mental health and how players confronted anxieties and isolation during the 2021-2022 pandemic season.
Kaplan also makes regular appearances on ESPN’s Around the Horn, the weekday program that consists of a satellite roundtable discussion of topical sports issues with journalists from around the nation.
Prior to joining ESPN, Kaplan worked at Sports Illustrated, the Boston Globe, Associated Press and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Kaplan, a native of New Jersey, received a journalism degree from Penn State University.
