Field Yates is an NFL Insider for ESPN who contributes analysis, breaking NFL news and fantasy football insight year-round across the company’s multimedia platforms. On NFL Sundays, he hosts ESPN2’s award-winning pregame show Fantasy Football Now.
Yates, who joined ESPN in 2012, also co-hosts ESPN Audio’s popular Fantasy Focus Football podcast, which began streaming live weekdays on Twitter in August 2018. Additionally, Yates co-hosts ESPN Radio’s Primetime and contributes to the Monday Night Football digital pregame show, Monday Tailgate, which debuted in 2020 and streams live on ESPN’s social platforms and the ESPN App.
A regular contributor to NFL Live, SportsCenter, The Fantasy Show with Matthew Berry on ESPN+ and more, Yates also writes for ESPN.com and takes part in ESPN’s annual Fantasy Football Marathon and NFL Draft coverage. In January 2021, he began hosting the First Draft podcast with ESPN Senior NFL Draft analysts Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay.
Previously at ESPN, Yates wrote for ESPN Boston and co-hosted a pair of ESPN Radio shows – Operation Football with Randy Scott and Andrew Hawkins and Football Friendzy with Rachel Lindsay and Bobby Carpenter. He served as an NFL Insider on Fantasy Football Now for five seasons (2015-2019) before assuming his current role as show host in 2020.
Prior to ESPN, Yates spent two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and interned for four summers with the New England Patriots front office. During his time in Kansas City, he worked on both the scouting and coaching staffs and split his four summers in New England with coaching and scouting duties as well.
A native of Weston, Mass., Yates attended Wesleyan University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Yates and his wife Chapin have one daughter, Kinley, who was born in January, 2022.
