Jason Aidoo

Vice President, Andscape

Jason Aidoo, who successfully managed the content business strategy and operations at Andscape for two years, was named Vice President and head of the Black content studio in November 2023. He is responsible for all business and content creation for The Walt Disney Company Black media platform from ESPN.

Aidoo is accountable for the strategy, editorial direction, project management, and overall leadership at Andscape. He helms the multimedia unit, delivering dimensional storytelling such as film and television production and developing new opportunities for the content platform. Aidoo works across ESPN and TWDC to reach and engage new audiences, supporting the company’s priority of audience expansion.

Since joining ESPN in 2020, Aidoo has led the transformation of Andscape into a content studio that explores the depth of Black identity through its power in sport and culture, always with a solid commitment to diversity and inclusion. He has also led The Walt Disney Company unit into a full-fledged media entity dedicated to creating, highlighting, and uplifting diverse Black stories across various media, including editorial, book publishing, film, television, and music.

Aidoo ensures Andscape crafts narratives with journalistic integrity, highlighting the unspoken truths and humanizing the typical one-dimensional portrayal of Black communities, as seen in features like Candace Parker and Maya Moore, two living legacies in women’s basketball. Andscape content includes films and series like the GLAAD-nominated The Conversation Project, which features conversations of Black changemakers.

Aidoo’s strategic role at Andscape goes beyond oversight. He actively contributes to developing show formats and content ideas for Andscape’s various groups. His most notable achievement was the launch of Andscape Studios’ inaugural film slate, where he served as a creative partner and led negotiations and investment decisions with filmmakers and production companies.

Prior to ESPN, Aidoo was with The Walt Disney Company in London from 2016–2020, eventually becoming the Director of partnerships for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He spearheaded collaborations across Disney’s entertainment footprint, innovating with new business models in IP licensing, partnerships, and direct-to-consumer subscriptions, always with a lens of integrating diversity throughout the business.

Aidoo’s early career was marked by pivotal roles in business and talent development at Sony Music Entertainment, VEVO, a music video platform, and British television networks ITV and Channel 5. His keen understanding of the cultural and business significance of amplifying diverse voices and investing in future talent was evident in his efforts that contributed to launching the careers of global, multi-ethnic stars such as Kendrick Lamar, Rita Ora, and Tinie Tempah.

A native of London, Aidoo earned both a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics and a Masters in Investment & Finance from Middlesex University. He is a regular face and name within the UK media speaking network, often providing thought leadership in digital entertainment and social media trends.
