Former UNC Asheville star and Harlem Globetrotter John Williams is an ESPN College Basketball Analyst, bringing his unique insights and passion for the game to audiences across the nation.

Williams was inducted into the UNC Asheville Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023 following a career that saw him finish as the program’s all-time leader in blocked shots, 6th in rebounds and 20th in points. Williams is one of only three players in Big South Conference history to achieve over 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, and 200 blocked shots—a true testament to his all-around talent. He led the Bulldogs to the 2011 NCAA Tournament, with his record-setting six blocked shots in the Big South championship game helping seal the win.

After college, John was drafted by the world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters, where he toured in over 40 countries and all 50 U.S. states. Transitioning from player to coach, Williams led Asheville Christian Academy to two state championships, demonstrating his ability to inspire and develop young athletes.

John’s commitment to youth basketball shines through his ventures, JWB Elite Training and The Hoop Lab. Here, he channels his expertise to train aspiring players, equipping them with the skills needed to achieve their basketball dreams. A certified NBA and International skill and development trainer under Ganon Baker Basketball, John has trained thousands of athletes worldwide. He currently serves as the US representative on the board for the United Cup of Champions.

An enthusiast of fishing, pickleball, and golf, Williams cherishes time with his wife, Whitney, and their daughters Selah and Israel.
