Tim Legler serves as the lead NBA analyst on ESPN and ABC, contributing to the network’s coverage of the league’s marquee events, including the NBA Finals and NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC. A member of ESPN’s NBA team since 2000, Legler joined ESPN and ABC’s lead NBA broadcast team in 2025 and called his first NBA Finals that season. He works alongside Mike Breen, Richard Jefferson and Lisa Salters on the network’s premier NBA game broadcasts while continuing to appear regularly on NBA Today, SportsCenter and additional news and information programming.
The sharp-shooting guard rose from the ranks of the CBA to NBA after leaving La Salle University in 1988. He played for five NBA teams – the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Washington Wizards.
In his first season with the Washington Wizards, Legler burst into the national spotlight at the 1996 NBA All-Star Weekend when he won the three-point shooting contest. The players he defeated included Dennis Scott, Steve Kerr, and Glen Rice. Legler went on to lead the NBA in three-point shooting with a percentage of .522 that season, falling just shy of the all-time single-season record of .524.
Legler received an MBA degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002.
