Executive Director, Birmingham Bowl

Mark Meadows was named as the executive director of the Birmingham Bowl in August 2006. The postseason college football game is owned and operated by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN, and played annually in Birmingham, Ala.

Meadows has over 26 years of experience in sports marketing and management after spending 12 years in the transportation industry.

Starting as a Sales Account Manager for Host Communications selling the Crimson Tide Sports Network and the SEC Corporate Sponsorship Program in 1990, Meadows served in various management positions with the Crimson Tide Sports Network over the next ten years to include VP and General Manager.

In 2000, Meadows was named Assistant VP and General Manager of the Southern Miss ISP Sports Network in Hattiesburg, Miss., where he managed the sales and operations of the network.

In July of 2003, Meadows was named Assistant Athletic Director for Corporate Sales and Marketing at Middle Tennessee State University, where he sold and managed the Blue Raider radio and television operations for the athletic department, while supervising the marketing efforts for all men’s and women’s sports at MTSU.

In addition to his career in athletics, Meadows served as a commissioned officer in the Alabama Army National Guard for 28 years, retiring in 2006 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

A Tuscaloosa native, Meadows earned his bachelor’s in communications from the University of Alabama in 1978. During his years at Alabama, Meadows served as a student football manager for the Crimson Tide, eventually serving as the head manager for Coach Paul W. Bryant as a senior. He was also a member of the Alabama Corps of Cadets (ROTC) and was commissioned as a 2LT in July of 1978.

He is active in several community groups including Kiwanis Club of Birmingham, Birmingham Business Alliance, Hoover Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.
