Softball Analyst

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Michele Smith joined ESPN as softball analyst in 1995. Alongside Beth Mowins, Jessica Mendoza and Holly Rowe, Smith has called the Women’s College World Series for two decades.

Smith served as a color commentator for NBC during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. Smith played in softball’s debut Olympic appearance in 1996 and again in 2000. She is a three-time world champion for Team USA and was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame in 2006. Smith has played in the Japan Professional Softball League for 16 years and is the eight-time Japan League Champion and eight-time Japan League Most Valuable Player.

During her NCAA career, Smith was a left-handed pitcher and powerful offensive threat.  She is a two-time All American at Oklahoma State University. She graduated with a Bachelor in Science degree in 1990.

Smith currently serves on the Board of Athletes for Hearts and as the Ambassador for softball’s return to the 2016 Olympic Games. Originally from New Jersey, Smith currently resides in Treasure Island, Fla.
