Nick Wagoner

NFL Nation Reporter: San Francisco 49ers
Nick Wagoner is the San Francisco 49ers reporter for ESPN’s NFL Nation. He covers the team on a daily basis for ESPN.com and contributes to ESPN television and radio shows. In his primary duties for ESPN.com, Wagoner offers news, analysis, commentary and opinion on all things related to the 49ers. In recent years, Wagoner has led ESPN.com’s coverage of Colin Kaepernick’s protest, the Niners’ Super Bowl run and more.
Prior to his current role, Wagoner covered the St. Louis Rams for 12 years – three of which were at ESPN. From 2013-2015, Wagoner led ESPN.com’s coverage on such important stories as the Rams making Michael Sam the first openly gay player drafted to the NFL, Sam’s subsequent pursuit of a roster spot and the team’s relocation and stadium saga.
Wagoner, who resides in Mountain View, Calif., brought a wealth of radio experience with him to the Bay Area. In St. Louis, he served as a regular contributor to ESPN’s St. Louis radio affiliate, 101 ESPN. During the football season, he appeared five days a week on the station’s daily shows as a Rams and NFL Insider. In the offseason, he offered continued NFL coverage and served as the station’s primary fill-in co-host discussing Cardinals baseball, Blues hockey and other local and national storylines.
Wagoner is a member of the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA). A native of Edwardsville, Ill., Wagoner graduated with honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia’s journalism school in 2004.
