Jack Obringer

Vice President, Production
In his role as Vice President, Production, ESPN veteran Jack Obringer is responsible for multiple aspects of the production of Sportscenter, ESPN’s signature news and information brand. He was named vice president in February of 2021.
Obringer oversees the production of multiple editions of SportsCenter including the 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. ET programs on weeknights and the 6 p.m. edition on weekends. Obringer also oversees SportsCenter’s highlights screening team and the production of wraps, and he oversees SportsCenter on the Road.
In addition, he oversees the RISE (Reveal Innovative SportsCenter Elements) unit, which is charged with increasing time spent viewing and creating in-show bumps, teases and creative elements to drive impressions.
He has touched many areas of SportsCenter during his ESPN career, which began in the fall of 2000. Most recently, he worked with anchor development, scheduling and contracts. Named a senior coordinating producer in 2005, he has overseen the production of various editions of SportsCenter including the 6 p.m., 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. editions. He also oversaw SportsCenter’s Veterans Day initiative from 2009-2011.
From 2007 through April 2009, Obringer oversaw two former ESPN NASCAR-related programs: NASCAR Countdown and NASCAR Now. He also previously oversaw NBA FastBreak, NBA Coast to Coast and NASCAR coverage on SportsCenter.
Before being named Senior Coordinating Producer, he was a coordinating producer for 6 p.m. SportsCenter (February 2002-March 2005), for Monday Night Countdown during the 2001 NFL season and for ESPNEWS from September 2000-June 2001.
Before joining ESPN, Obringer worked at WNDU-TV in South Bend, Ind., from August 1984-September 2000, ultimately as assistant news director.
Obringer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American studies from University of Notre Dame.
