Ricardo Ortiz is one of ESPN’s pioneering Spanish-language talents, having joined the company in 1992. He currently serves as a play-by-play commentator for ESPN’s Spanish-language coverage of LaLiga and other major soccer events. Ortiz is also a regular contributor to Fuera de Juego and provides commentary for a wide variety of sports.

During his tenure at ESPN, Ortiz has lent his voice to an extensive range of soccer broadcasts, including the UEFA Champions League, Serie A, Argentine Primera División, Eredivisie, Copa Libertadores, and more. His versatility extends beyond soccer, as he has also covered the NBA — including The Finals — and provided analysis for tennis and boxing. In addition to his television work, Ortiz has written numerous articles for newspapers and magazines across Latin America, further showcasing his depth of expertise in sports journalism.

Before joining ESPN, Ortiz worked at GolTV, where he hosted various studio shows and covered leagues such as Spain’s LaLiga, Serie A, and the Bundesliga. His experience also includes covering tennis matches for TNT and motor racing for Speed en Español. Notably, he was the Spanish-language voice of boxing for HBO Latino.

Born in New York and raised in Argentina, Ortiz completed his studies in communication and economics in New York City.

Nacido en Nueva York y criado en Argentina, Ortiz completó sus estudios en comunicación y economía en la ciudad de Nueva York.
