Roy Philpott began full-time at ESPN as a play-by-play announcer in 2016, calling college football, basketball, baseball and softball games as well as contributing to ESPN’s UFL coverage on ABC.
 
Prior to ESPN, Philpott served as a lead publisher for Fox Sports, which included the launch and development of two of the largest team-specific web sites in the Scout.com family of networks. He also served as a radio host on a variety of stations in South Carolina since 2003, most recently with 105.5 The Roar in Clemson, S.C.
 
Philpott was designated as the lead play-by-play announcer for WLOS in Asheville, N.C., starting in 2008. While there, he called numerous high school and college football games, in addition to minor league baseball for the ABC affiliate. During that same time period, he served as the voice for Clemson baseball and Clemson women’s basketball on the radio side as well, while also hosting numerous pre- and post-game shows for football and men’s basketball.
 
He continues his work on national radio, having called the College Football Playoff games for ESPN Radio, while also hosting various shows for SiriusXM College Sports Radio channel 84, including College Sports Today every Sunday from 9a-noon ET.
 
Originally from Columbia, S.C., he now resides now in Greenville, S.C., after receiving his Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering from Clemson University.
