Play-by-Play Commentator

Sean Kelley joined ESPN in July 2019 as the lead play-by-play voice for college football on ESPN Radio. Kelley will also provide commentary for ESPN Radio’s college basketball, MLB and NBA broadcasts.

Prior to joining ESPN, Kelley served as the radio play-by-play voice of the New Orleans Pelicans from 2005-2019 (previously New Orleans Hornets). In addition to his duties with the Pelicans, he was the host of The Black and Blue Report, a 30-minute online radio show that focused on the news surrounding the Pelicans and New Orleans Saints organizations, including exclusive interviews with players, coaches and executives from both franchises.  Kelley also assisted in covering the Saints with the team’s digital media department, and was in the broadcast booth for the Saints pre-season television package.

Kelley served as the voice of the Tulane Green Wave from 2002-05, providing play-by-play for the school’s football, basketball and baseball games and hosting TV and radio shows. Prior to his work with Tulane, Kelley worked with KFRU-AM in Columbia, MO from 1998-2002. He was the station’s sports director, anchor and host in addition to doing play-by-play for the University of Missouri baseball team and hosting the pre-game, halftime and post-game show for the Missouri Tiger Radio Network for two years.

A native of St. Louis, Kelley earned a degree in broadcast journalism from Southern Illinois University. In addition to his broadcasting career, Kelley served as a firefighter with St. Tammany Parish Fire District 13 from 2012-17.
