ESPN reporter Jenn Brown will be inducted Thursday, Oct. 14, as a member of the 2010 Hornets Hall of Fame at Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, Fla. Brown, who graduated in 1999, will be honored along with four fellow alumni, including Minnesota Twins catcher Drew Butera (2002).

At Bishop Moore, Brown played seven sports – cross country, volleyball, diving, bowling, basketball, softball and track – culminating in 19 seasons across four years. She holds the school record for the most varsity letters by any athlete, with 14. In her senior year she captained the diving, bowling, basketball, softball and track teams. She was president of the freshman class in 1996. In 1999, her peers voted to name her Miss Bishop Moore High School, a leadership role representing the entire student body. She was also named a Central Florida Top 10 Athlete that year and had more than 200 hours of community service.

“I’m so thankful to Bishop Moore High School and all of my coaches and teammates,” Brown said. “They understood my dream of breaking this record (most letters in school history) and helped paved the way in my becoming who I am today. If not for them it wouldn’t have been possible. And of course I want to thank my mom, who taught me to always go after my dreams. I congratulate my fellow inductees and I wish I could be there. Obviously I have a commitment to my work on ESPN’s weekly Thursday series, but I will be there in spirit.

“To the students of Bishop Moore, I’d like to say this: I wish someone had sat me down when I was in high school and told me to really enjoy the special moments as they happen. You get busy with the day-to-day activities, playing sports, going to school, getting ready for college – and you start focusing on tomorrow and you stop appreciating today. You will find as you get older life starts to fly by, and it’s not until a moment has passed that you look back and realize how special it really was. So be sure to appreciate all that you have today … because those moments will be gone before you know it.”

After high school, Brown attended the University of Florida on a full academic scholarship and was a four-year letterman on the Florida Gators softball team. She was team captain in her senior season and finished her career third on UF’s stolen base list (now sixth). Brown graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida in 2003.

She joined ESPN in February 2010 as a reporter for College GameDay, co-host of ESPNU Road Trip, and a Los Angeles-based bureau reporter. In September 2010 she began a new role as sideline reporter for Thursday night’s ESPN College Football Primetime. She also serves as feature reporter for both football and basketball College GameDay programs and contributes reports and interviews for SportsCenter and various platforms in ESPN’s news-gathering operation.
