Mexican Striker Jared Borgetti Joins ESPN Deportes as Fútbol Picante’s Analyst

Borgetti joins the discussion table of soccer experts

Jared Borgetti, the top scorer of the Mexican national soccer team, joins ESPN Deportes as the network’s newest analyst of Fútbol Picante, the network’s daily Mexican soccer news program. He will make his debut during this weekend’s edition of the show.

“All of Jared’s experience in the field will enrich Fútbol Picante’s discussion table,” said Armando Benítez, senior director of production of ESPN Mexico. “Signing-up talent such as Borgetti allows us to give a fresh and insightful touch to our analysis.”

Born August 14, 1973, Borgetti was a prominent player in the Mexican First Division and had the opportunity to play in the following teams: Atlas de Guadalajara, Santos Laguna, Pachuca, Cruz Azul, Monterrey and Club Deportivo Guadalajara. Borgetti is ranked the third top scorer in the Mexican First Division with 252 goals. He was part of the Mexican national soccer team, where he scored 46 goals making him the top scorer in the team’s history, and he had the opportunity to participate in two FIFA World Cups, Korea-Japan 2002 and Germany 2006. Borgetti became the first Mexican to play in the English Premier League when he was acquired by the Bolton Wanderers. In addition, Borgetti has been recognized as the goal scoring champion in the Summer 2000 and Winter 2001 tournaments.

As new talent of ESPN Deportes, Borgetti will contribute his experience as a professional soccer player at national and international levels.
