2012 NBA Finals on ABC: Highest-Rated Since 2004

Second-Highest Game 4 Overnight Rating in ABC History

Through four games, the 2012 NBA Finals – the Miami Heat leading the Oklahoma City Thunder 3-1 – is averaging an 11.6 overnight rating, the highest since 2004 and the second-highest in ABC history, according to Nielsen. The four-game average is up six percent from last year – Dallas Mavericks vs. Miami Heat – which averaged a 10.9.

NBA Finals Game 4 delivered a 12.4 overnight rating, the highest since 2004 and the second-highest Game 4 ever on ABC. It is up 12 percent from last year, which earned an 11.1. The game peaked with a 16.3 rating from 11:30 to 11:45 p.m. ET. The only other NBA Finals Game 4 with a higher rating was in 2004 – Los Angeles Lakers vs. Detroit Pistons – which earned a 14.5.

In Oklahoma City, the game delivered a 49.1 rating, the highest for an NBA game ever in the market. In Miami, the game delivered a 34.6 rating.

The NBA Finals will continue with Game 5 on Thursday, June 22, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, ESPN Radio, ESPN3 and via the WatchESPN app. Kia NBA Countdown will preview the game at 8:30 p.m.
