Mayne is Back: ESPN Launches Wider World of Sports, Season 2
ESPN.com launched Season 2 of Kenny Mayne’s Wider World of Sports (www.espn.com/wwos) with a series of six new segments set to begin today on ESPN.com’s Playbook and ESPN’s SportsCenter, as well as a one-hour special on ESPN2, December 11 at 10:00 pm ET.
In WWOS Season 2, Mayne continues his homage to ABC’s classic Wide World of Sports — with stops in the Netherlands, Scotland, Nicaragua, Italy, Switzerland and Bosnia — exploring the sports most important and unique to the indigenous people of each country.
“There are some who think we got to go on an all expenses paid world vacation and call it work. That’s just not true,” said Mayne, ESPN’s wider world traveler, star of ESPN.com’s Mayne Street video series, former SportsCenter anchor and current contributor to ESPN’s NFL Countdown. “There’s no way we’re getting our money back for our greens fees in Scotland. But we’ll try.”
Mayne’s far flung travels in Season 2 include volcano surfing in Nicaragua, canal jumping in the Netherlands, the Palio Di Siena horse race in Italy, and the Highland Games in Scotland.
