NBA Finals on ABC: Viewership Up for Miami Heat-San Antonio Spurs Rematch

Second-highest Rated Game One Since 2004

Viewership for the Miami Heat-San Antonio Spurs NBA Finals rematch is up on ABC, according to Nielsen. Game One averaged 14,846,000 viewers (p2+), up four percent from last year’s 14,241,000 viewers. This year’s audience helped propel ABC to win the night across all of television for the 38th consecutive time. ABC also won the night in all key demos.

NBA Finals Game One averaged a 9.0 U.S. household rating, up two percent from an 8.8 for last year’s Game One. The 9.0 rating matches the second-highest rated NBA Finals Game One since 2004.

The Finals on ABC is also up in every key demo: M18-34 (8.0 vs. 7.5); M18-49 (7.9 vs. 7.4); M25-54 (7.8 vs.7.6); P18-34 (6.0 vs. 5.8); P18-49 (6.0 vs. 5.7); P25-54 (6.1 vs. 5.9).

The NBA Finals on Twitter was the most-tweeted NBA game of the year with more than 3.2 million tweets and up 18 percent when compared to Game One last season.  Additionally, the game was the most-talked about television program of the day, accounting for 76% of all television conversation on Twitter, according to Nielsen Social.
