X Games Norway 2018 Day One News and Results— Leticia Bufoni Wins First Gold Since 2013 and Kelvin Hoefler Qualifies First in Skateboard Street Competitions

Built as a permanent skate park for the city of Oslo during X Games in 2016, athletes returned to Skur 13 to open the weekend with an exciting Men’s Skateboard Street Qualifier and Women’s Skateboard Street Final. More than 1,100 fans took in the day’s events.

A two-time gold medalist, Leticia Bufoni becomes the most-medaled Women’s Street Skateboarder with her gold medal win at X Games Norway 2018. Taking home the first medal of the event, Bufoni took an early lead with an 84.66 on her first run. Defending Minneapolis gold medalist Lacey Baker threatened to knock Bufoni out of the top spot with the final run of the competition, but had to settle for silver with a third run score of 78.33. X Games Oslo 2016 gold medalist Pamela Rosa took home bronze with a score of 75.33.

“I feel great and super stoked on the gold,” said Bufoni. “It’s been five years since I got a gold [medal], so I’m really happy! I’m also happy to be back in Oslo, and it’s the first time I got to really experience the city with warm weather and it’s been a great time!”

In the Men’s Skateboard Street Round One event, defending Minneapolis gold medalist Kelvin Hoefler continued his dominance by qualifying in first place. Hoefler earned a 92.33 in his second run to take the top spot away from American Jagger Eaton, who posted a 90.00 in his first run. The top seven skateboarders will advance to the final on Sunday, along with the winner of the Norwegian Qualifier. The Men’s Skateboard Street Final takes place Sunday, May 20 live on X Games Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages in North America.
