As if there’s not enough to worry about heading into the NBA season, three players also have to deal with unpleasant calls from the one and only Grinch, star of the upcoming animated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, from Illumination and Universal Pictures.
In a new campaign airing on ESPN, Golden State Warriors Draymond Green, Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid and Cleveland Cavaliers J.R. Smith each field nasty calls from the Grinch, who tries to get into their heads before the season kicks off this week. As in the upcoming animated feature, Academy Award® nominee Benedict Cumberbatch lends his voice to the infamous Grinch for these spots, which were developed by ESPN’s CreativeWorks team, in conjunction with Illumination and Universal Pictures.
For their eighth fully animated feature, Illumination and Universal Pictures present DR. SEUSS’ THE GRINCH, a new adaptation of the beloved book by Theodor Geisel that became a holiday classic. The Grinch tells the story of a cynical grump who goes on a mission to steal Christmas, only to have his heart changed by a young girl’s generous holiday spirit. Funny, inspiring and visually stunning, The Grinch tells a universal story about the redemptive power of kindness and the true spirit of Christmas. It opens on November 9.
