ESPN to Offer Several Alternative Viewing Experiences for NBA Western Conference Finals Games 3 & 4 on the ESPN App and ESPN2

ESPN is offering several alternative viewing experiences as part of its NBA Western Conference Finals coverage for Games 3 and 4. It will include alternative viewing experiences for pre-game, in-game and post-game coverage.  A highlight will be ESPN Mode, a Second Spectrum-enhanced alternative viewing experience with a continuous on-court graphic display triggering in-game stats, play and ball movement diagrams, player identification, effective shooting percentages and fan-friendly pop-ups all with an entertaining, predictive and anticipatory feel.

Game 3 (Saturday, 9 p.m. ET) alternative viewing experiences on the ESPN App:

  • ”ESPN Mode” with Second Spectrum: featuring on-court graphics that take the viewer’s eye to locations of high interest, brings together the best of Second Spectrum’s “Coach Mode”, “Player Mode” and “Mascot Mode”.
  • Above The Rim: the opportunity to watch the game “from above” with ESPN robotic cameras located directly above each basket with full coverage of both ends of the court.
  • Layup Lines: the pre-game layup lines and warmups for both teams.
  • Hoop StreamsESPN’s innovative, new NBA Twitter and YouTube pre-game show hosted by Cassidy Hubbarth, courtside in Portland, previewing the game with special guests (8 p.m.).
  • At The Mic: the post-game players and coaches press conferences.

On Monday, May 20, ESPN will televise Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals at 9 p.m. ET and will offer eight alternative viewing experiences, including the return of Full Court Press: The Jump Edition on ESPN2 and the ESPN AppRachel Nichols will host live from the arena with a cast of ESPN NBA analysts and commentators representing a broad scope of basketball expertise.

Game 4 alternative viewing experiences on the ESPN App:

  • ”ESPN Mode” with Second Spectrum: featuring on-court graphics that take the viewer’s eye to locations of high interest, bring together the best of Second Spectrum’s “Coach Mode”, “Player Mode” and “Mascot Mode”.
  • BelowThe Rim: the opportunity to watch the game from the eye-catching views of ESPN wide angle lens cameras located underneath the basket.
  • Above The Rim: the opportunity to watch the game “from above” with ESPNrobotic cameras located directly above each basket with a full coverage of both ends of the court.
  • Layup Lines: the pre-game layup lines and warmups for both teams.
  • Hoop StreamsESPN’s innovative, new NBA Twitter and YouTube pre-game show hosted by Cassidy Hubbarth, courtside in Portland, previewing the game with special guests (8 p.m.).
