Podcast Listening Jumps 10 Percent in June
In early October, ESPN will debut The ESPN Daily, a podcast that will be published five times per week. The Monday through Friday audio offering will feature ESPN’s award-winning team of journalists and storytellers.
“The ESPN Daily is going to be appointment listening for anyone interested in the world of sports,” said Andy Tennant, ESPN executive producer of Outside the Lines and E:60 who will run the team producing The ESPN Daily. “The show will be unlike anything now available in sports, anywhere, with stories, interviews and analysis that only ESPN can provide. Every day The ESPN Daily will take a deep dive into a specific event or issue in sports, using ESPN’s unmatched resources and deep roster of reporters, producers and commentators.
More details will be announced closer to the launch.
ESPN Podcast Users Jump 10 Percent in June
In June, ESPN Podcasts drew 5.8 mm listeners, up 10 percent from June 2018. This is the sixth consecutive month of year-over-year growth. Content created specifically for podcasts grew 15 percent compared to June 2018. The June increases were led by listenership of FiveThirtyEight: Politics, The Lowe Post and SVP & Russillo.

ESPN Audio launched its first podcast in 2005 and is a leader in the sports genre with more than 35 original offerings, plus shows from ESPN Radio and television. Offerings focus on “sports passions” (NFL, NBA, MLB, etc.), storytelling (“30 for 30”) and compelling personalities. The most popular titles include Fantasy Focus Football, The Lowe Post as well as podcasts of ESPN Radio’s The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, and TV’s First Take, Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn
