WNBA Finals Tip Off on Sunday on ESPN

ESPN’s live presentation of the 2019 WNBA Finals presented by YouTubeTV tips off Sunday, Sept. 29, with the Connecticut Sun visiting the Washington Mystics at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN. Ryan Ruocco, Rebecca Lobo and reporter Holly Rowe will call the best-of-five game series. All games will also stream live on the ESPN app.

WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne and the Washington Mystics will take on the Connecticut Sun and Jonquel Jones, a WNBA All-Defensive First Team pick, who finished third in the MVP voting. Washington returns to the Finals for a second straight year, while Connecticut reached the Finals for the first time since making back-to-back appearances in 2004 and 2005. Each team is seeking its first WNBA championship. The Mystics finished the regular season with a league-best 26-8 record and earned the number one seed in the postseason; Connecticut’s 23-11 mark earned the Sun the number two seed.

Additional highlights:

  • Each Finals game will have both coaches — Washington’s Mike Thibault and Connecticut’s Curt Miller — and one player from each team wearing a mic.
  • ESPN will add “above the rim” cameras to the coverage of the Finals.
  • Player in-game interview during the first quarter.
  • Interviews with the coaches will be held at the end of the first and third quarter.
