ESPN today announced it has re-signed MMA insider Brett Okamoto to a new multi-year deal, extending his tenure as a contributor across all of ESPN’s platforms.

In the new agreement Okamoto, who joined ESPN in 2010, will continue as a breaking news reporter, feature writer and analyst, and co-host–along with Ariel Helwani–of ESPN’s live UFC weigh-in shows on ESPN+ and live UFC post-shows across ESPN’s video platforms.  He will also continue as an interviewer of top stars for features across linear and digital platforms, including SportsCenter and YouTube.

Said Okamoto: “ESPN has been my home for almost 10 years, and I have never been more proud to be part of its coverage of mixed martial arts. I love this sport and I love getting to tell the stories it has to offer. I want to thank ESPN, all of its readers and viewers, and the athletes for always being so accessible and open. I can’t wait to see how ESPN’s MMA coverage continues to grow in the coming years.”

Added Nate Ravitz, ESPN vice president, digital content: “Brett is one of the most respected and skilled journalists in MMA. His exceptional insight and access help make ESPN the home of combat sports, and we couldn’t be more excited about the storytelling he will continue to deliver for our fans.”
