Reid to Serve as ESPN 980 Washington DC Co-Host of New Morning Drive Program, “THE MAN CAVE WITH CHRIS PAUL AND JASON REID,” and ESPN.com NFL Columnist

ESPN and Red Zebra Broadcasting announced today that national sports columnist Jason Reid will team up with longtime morning drive personality Chris Paul to form a new morning drive program on ESPN 980 in Washington DC (WTEM 980AM; 92.7FM and 94.3FM), THE MAN CAVE WITH CHRIS PAUL AND JASON REID, which will debut on March 16, 2015 (for more information, please visit: www.espn980.com). He will also join ESPN.com as NFL columnist.

THE MAN CAVE WITH CHRIS PAUL AND JASON REID will be a blend of sports, comedy and entertainment, and we are thrilled to welcome these two talented men to ESPN 980,” said Chuck Sapienza, Vice President of Programming, ESPN 980.

“We searched for the perfect combination of personalities to place in morning drive and we found that in Jason and Chris,” said Rick Carmean, CEO, Red Zebra Broadcasting. “These two men will give Washington DC sports fans something they have never experienced before in morning radio.”

“We’re looking forward to adding Jason’s perspective and professionalism to ESPN.com’s editorial offerings,” said Patrick Stiegman, Vice President and Editorial Director of Digital and Print Media, ESPN.  “He is a proven journalist with a distinct voice and years of expertise covering the NFL and professional sports.”

Most recently, Reid was a sports columnist for The Washington Post. He first joined the newspaper as beat writer for the Redskins. Prior to that, he worked for 15 years at The Los Angeles Times where he covered the Dodgers, Clippers and provided college basketball analysis. He began his professional journalism career covering prep sports for the newspaper. A native New Yorker, Reid was raised in Southern California and graduated from the University of Southern California School of Journalism.

“I’m very excited to be part of this new venture,” said Reid. “I look forward to continuing my work as columnist for ESPN.com and bringing a dynamic and entertaining program to ESPN 980 listeners.”

Chris Paul is a veteran of local broadcast radio, co-hosting the Donnie Simpson Show on WPGC-FM, Washington DC for 16 years and for the last six years on the syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show. Chris has performed the popular daily segment The Morning Minute, having fun with the biggest news stories of the day to the delight of eight million listeners nationwide.

“I am so excited to be a part of the ESPN 980 family,” said Paul. “This show will be about our love of sports and our love for the people in the DMV!”

THE MAN CAVE WITH CHRIS PAUL AND JASON REID will air weekdays from 6 – 10 a.m., and both men will contribute to the Washington Redskins Radio Network.
